07 July 2011 I know...it's been a while. It's been a LONG time since I've posted anything on here. Honestly...it seems like I'm updating Facebook more than I am my own web site. Funny how that happens that way huh? I know several of you that were regular readers here are on FB now so it's nice to know that we're still able to kinda keep in touch. What's been happening with me lately? Well, I'm on my third tour with Clinton Anderson as his Tour Emcee. I really enjoy doing this. I'm not gone for weeks at a time like I was, every now and then, when I was announcing rodeos. I fly out on Friday and fly back on Monday. It's really nice. I enjoy the people that I work with on the tour staff and I enjoy meeting the folks that come to the tours to watch and learn. We have a bunch of fun. Glenda, my lovely wife that I'm so proud of, has embarked on another career that she is completely in love and passionate about. I'm so happy for her. She is a casework supervisor for CASA. It's an incredibly rewarding job for her and I'm so proud! She worked very hard to prepare for a job like this and it finally came her way. I'm couldn't be happier. Lizzie is three now and what a mess! My gosh, she amazes me every day. The things she says and things she does...there's not a day that goes by with her where I don't find myself laughing my butt off at her for some reason or another. There's some pics on my FB page...you should go check 'em out. I'm still have a day gig here in town...metal construction/fabrication etc...and I still have things on the ranch to take care of. I stay awful busy...I really do. It's nice to be home and to be busy doing things that have meaning to them, that's for sure. I'd be lying to ya if I told ya I didn't miss being out there playing music though. I miss it so much. I've actually played a couple of private parties with Odie and Daniel! Mark Heinrich booked a couple and Odie came down from Dallas to play. Earl Adams played bass with us and man, it was fun!! Wow...we had a great time. There was even a few words mentioned that sounded like "reunion"...lol. I have been writing a bunch. I have enough to record another album...just don't have the money to do it with. It's a shame...sometimes I find myself wondering why I even write the songs since I know they're not ever gonna be heard by anyone other that the few that I play in front of live every now and again. It's gone past the point of frustration...lol...sometimes I'm just mad about it. That I have something to record and get out there so you can hear it and it seems like it's just not gonna happen. Who knows...maybe one day. You can come hear the new stuff in Castell this month. Yeppers...I'll be doing an acoustic set for the Castell VFD benefit BBQ. It's always a great time and I sure would like to see folks out there to support the fire department. It's been an awful dry year...lot's of stuff to burn...our local fire departments need our help in a big way. Support yours in your town and, if you can, come to Castell and show some support on July 30th. Gotta run for now...gotta get out the door and get the day started. Have a great one and take care of you~ Les |
